Is String Theory losing its Grip?

Posted in science with tags on June 17, 2011 by marksun

Most of us don’t care one way or another,  but there are indications that the non-discovery of mini-black holes and  dearth of super-symmetric indicators at the LHC have weakened certain species of string theory, spreading gloom among  string theorists while pumping up the schandenfreude of  the Loop Quantum Graviterist crowd.  String theory seems to  touch nerves in a way that must be unpleasant when it happens.

See http://pseudomonad.blogspot.com/2011/04/top-stringer-resigns.html for example.

So, is it?  These are interesting times!
